Kim Leadbeater – MP
MP Kim Leadbeater came to school during Parliamentary week. First she met with members of our School Council before hosting an assembly. She then spoke in more detail to our children in Y5 and Y6. We were extremely impressed with the questions the children had thought of.
Y6 – Judaism
Year 6 had a visitor in today to teach them all about Shabbat and Judaism. They plaited challah bread and discussed what happens during the Friday night Shabbat meal. Friday night is the start of the Jewish Sabbath, which starts at sundown and continues until the same time on Saturday evening. The meal is a time of celebration when many families – often several generations – sit down to eat together. We pretended we were all one giant family and enjoyed role playing a Shabbat meal.
Y2 – Saltaire
Year 2 welcomed a special visitor earlier this week. As part of their History work looking at Sir Titus Salt, a visitor, dressed in costume and character delivered a presentation about the life of Sir Titus Salt. The children really enjoyed the visit and learnt lots.
